Chasing Rare Birds

I got a call from my friend Cilla. She had a brown hummingbird! Rufous Hummingbirds are a fun hummer who show up in the East in the winter.

It has been a few years since I've seen one in Glynn County. I only found one on Jekyll Island. Grabbing my camera and binoculars, I drove over to Jekyll Island.

Settling down near the window with the hummingbird feeder. Tick, tick, tick, the time passed. I will wait until noon. Tick, tick, tick no hummer. "It is not going to show." I thought. I shook off the fear and waited. Tick, Tick, tick...then it was there. It was there for a while. Nice photos, great looks, satisfied!

Hmm. with that piece of luck, I tried for a Dickcissel at another friend's house on Jekyll. Pulling up and with five minutes, the bird was there!
